While Jacksonville, Florida, offers hot and sunny summers, mild winters and ideal spring and autumn seasons, the weather can be brutal.
The area experiences hurricane-like conditions at various times of years.
The high winds often knock out power lines and lead to falling trees and limbs. Torrential downpours and rising levels of the St. Johns river causes widespread flooding. I was very happy with the location of my home. We had a lovely view of the river from the back deck. I invested into a kayak, fishing boat and paddle board and spent a lot of time on the water. I also devoted quite a bit of time, effort and money into renovating the home. I sanded, varnished and totally refinished the hardwood floors, doors and moldings. I put in a brand new kitchen with updated appliances, cupboards and countertops. The entire interior and exterior of the house was freshly painted and the roof was only three years old. The HVAC system was less than five years old. When the weather forecast predicted a mild hurricane off the coast, I wasn’t all that worried. Unfortunately, the hurricane demolished my home. The downstairs was filled with dirty water. A tree landed on the roof. I ended up with collapsed walls, broken windows and a cracked foundation. The house was a total loss, and the insurance was of no help. I was very thankful for the option to sell to a cash home buyer. This process eliminated the need for buyer financing, home inspections, appraisals and repairs. I was able to get an offer online. Once I accepted the offer, the closing moved forward rapidly.
